One line

You and your friends run a dog daycare. It goes badly.

Short description

You and your friends run a dog daycare. It goes badly. Feed them, wash them, walk them, and scoop what they leave behind, before somebody props a gate open and eleven dogs discover the front door. Co-op chaos with very good pups.

Name, as written

Kennel Chaos: Daycare Simulator

About the game

02

A dog daycare. Your friends. One mop.

Kennel Chaos is a co-op simulator about being the people who actually do the work. No staff menu, no spreadsheet. You're the one holding the scoop. Bring your friends, split the jobs, and watch the plan survive roughly ten minutes.

You can carry one thing

A dog, or a tool. Never both. Tools live on the racks you bought and put somewhere. So "somewhere" turns out to be a decision you'll think about a lot, usually while jogging back across the building holding a wriggling beagle.

Small problems compound

A fresh poop takes two seconds to scoop. Ignore it and somebody walks through it. Now there are paw prints down the corridor. Ignore those and they dry, and dried needs a scrub. This is how a nice afternoon becomes a Code Brown.

Build the place first

Start with an empty building and a small pile of money. Buy runs, tubs, grooming tables, food prep, play equipment. Paint the walls. Hang wallpaper. Put a clock up. Then open the doors and find out which of your decisions were stupid.

Then pay for all of it

Takings in, upkeep out, stars up or down depending on whether every dog actually got what its care card promised. Spend what's left before bed. Do it again tomorrow, but with more dogs.

"I worked as a kennel tech in college and started making games around the same time. This is that job."

James Dalton Ward, creator

The dogs are the challenge

Twenty-one breeds, and every one of them has a habit:

  • The Escape Artist is testing every gate right now. She will find the one you forgot.
  • The Sneaky Pooper waits until you're facing the other way, and picks a corner.
  • The Shaker waits until it's out of the tub and next to you.
  • Zoomies doesn't care what's in the way, including you.
  • Rolls In It has already found the mess you were about to clean.
  • The Poop Eater solves that problem in the worst possible way.

1-8 player online co-op

Split the jobs, or all chase the same dog. It is significantly funnier with friends.

21 dog breeds

Every dog has traits that genuinely change your day, printed on a care card you are expected to follow.

A mess system with consequences

Fresh, stepped in, tracked down the corridor, dried on. Every stage costs more to fix than the last.

Build and decorate

Lay out your own daycare room by room: runs, tubs, stations, play gear, paint and wallpaper.

Hands-on, first person

No menus doing the work for you. You carry the dog, you hold the hose, you slip on the puddle.

Extremely good dogs

Who are also extremely bad, at the same time, all day.

James's previous games have passed a million downloads and $600K in revenue. The biggest, My Suika: Kyo's Fruit Merge (2023), reached 1M+ downloads across iOS, Android and Steam, with 1,730+ Steam reviews and a 4.6 rating from 2,740+ App Store reviews.

Kennel Chaos comes from an older job. James worked as a kennel tech in college, from about 2013 to 2015, which is where most of the problems in this game were first met in real life.

Capture tips

10

Camera controls in the current build

  • F5Switch between first and third person.
  • Hold Left AltOrbit the camera around your employee in third person. The mouse wheel zooms.
  • CSecurity cameras. Once you have bought some, flick between them for a CCTV angle on the room.
  • T (hold)Emote wheel, for reaction shots with friends.
  • EscPause. In solo play this freezes the whole shift so you can set up a shot.

These are the defaults. Every key except Esc can be rebound in Settings.

Good footage, fast

  • Bring friends. It's co-op for up to 8, and the funniest moments are somebody else's mistakes.
  • Leave a mess alone for a minute. Poop gets stepped in, tracked and dried, and dogs roll in it.
  • Open a gate and look away. The Escape Artist will do the rest.
  • Use the hose on anything wet. Floors, dogs, colleagues.
  • Want a clean HUD-free angle or a key? Email us and we'll help.
